I need help!

Below are answers to the questions we are often asked about Doctor Who Monster Invasion. If your question is not displayed here, you are welcome to contact us at: ask@doctorwhomi.com.

Common questions about the website

Q. My parents haven't received an email to authorise my account, or they have received an email and it doesn't contain a link.

When this happens ask your parent to send us an email at ask@doctorwhomi.com containing your username and the email address you registered with. We can then authorise your account and you will be able to log in with the details you provided.

Q. Help! I've registered with the site, but can't log in.

If you are under 12, we need parental consent before we can activate your account. When you registered with us, we asked for your parent or guardian's email address - we have sent your parent or guardian an email containing a link, which they'll need to click on to activate your account. Please ask them to check their email account for this email. If this email does not appear, please contact us.

Q. I have a message telling me the code on my card has already been entered - why is this?

Codes can only be used once, and the card will appear in your TARDIS if you have already entered the code. If somebody else has entered the card code, the card will appear in their TARDIS. If you are sure your card is brand new, please contact us and we'll check it to make sure it's a clean code.

Q. What do I do if I've forgotten my password?

Simply login and go to the password reset page, enter your email address and we will email you a new password. If you do not receive an email, check your Spam or junk mail folder for the message, as emails can sometimes end up in there. If you are still having problems, please contact us.

Q. How do I change my password or email address?

You can change your email and password on the My Account page. Make a note of your new details and keep them safe so you will always be able to log in to your account.

Q. Can I have more than one account?

We do not advise creating multiple accounts on www.doctorwhomi.com. When you log in to your profile, you will only be able to see the cards associated with that account in your TARDIS. A Rare or Super Rare card code can only be used once on one account.

Q. How do I unsubscribe from the Doctor Who Monster Invasion newsletter?

Once you're logged into the site, you can tick to subscribe or unsubscribe to the newsletter on the My Account page.

Questions about Doctor Who Monster Invasion magazine

Q. How often does Doctor Who Monster Invasion magazine come out?

Every two weeks, apart from the first issue, which is on sale for three weeks.

Q. How do the cards work?

There are a number of games that can be played with your Doctor Who Monster Invasion cards. Each issue of Doctor Who Monster Invasion magazine features instructions for a different game. The more cards you have, the more games you can play!

Rare cards feature a code that can be used online. Each code will enhance or influence an online game. Super Rare 3-D cards feature a code that should be entered into the TARDIS. Then, when you select the card in the TARDIS you can choose the option to view the 3-D card by clicking on the button and holding the AR marker on the back of the card up to your webcam.

Q. I can't get my Super Rare 3-D cards to work.

To access your Super Rare 3-D cards you need to have a free account registered on our www.doctorwhomi.com website. Open the TARDIS and enter the code from the card in the box on the top right that says 'Enter code' and click GO! You should now see the card appear in your TARDIS. Click 'View 3-D' and when prompted 'Allow' your camera to be accessed. When the camera has activated hold up the back of your card to the camera. You may need to try a few positions for the camera to read the card marker correctly. Once the figure appears, standing on the back of the card, you can press an action to make the character move or speak. If you have any problems try the following:

  • Improve the lighting
  • Make sure the card is well lit, so the card looks black and white on the webcam, not grey. Also, avoid any direct light shining on the card as it makes the marker difficult to read.
  • Place the card on a steady surface, and point the webcam at it, rather than holding in your hand.
  • Upgrade to the latest version of Flash Player, if you haven't already.
  • If the computer is older/slower, shut down other applications to give the browser more memory to work with.

Q. How many cards are there in total?

There are 345 cards to collect in total. There are 30 Doctor cards, 42 Villain cards, 63 Doctor's Ally cards, 37 Monster cards, 93 Adventure cards, 37 Gadget cards and 2 Infinite cards. All cards other than the Infinite are divided into four categories - Common, Rare and Super Rare 3-D and Ultra Rare. There are also four special edition cards – The Exploding TARDIS card (which came with the first Doctor Who Monster Invasion collector's tin), the Doctor Autograph card (available only with issue 11 of Doctor Who Monster Invasion), the Amy Autograph card (only available to subscribers who opt-in to buy the Doctor Who Monster Invasion Extreme collector's tin) and the Rory Autograph card (available with the Doctor Who Monster Invasion collector's tin).

Q. What's the rarest card in the collection?

The rarest cards in the collection are the Infinite cards. Doctor Who Monster Invasion featured a yucky CyberHead and Doctor Who Monster Invasion has a seriously electrifying Silence Infinite card. There is only one Infinite per collection and only one Infinite card in every one thousand packs.

Q. How do I get magazine downloads?

At the top of the homepage there is a box where you can enter magazine codes. Enter the secret word from the issue (on page 5) and visit your profile (by clicking on My Profile on the top right of the screen). You will then be able to download the wallpaper or icon the you have unlocked.
